D.I.Y. Non-Toxic Cleaners
General Cleaner
Add 2 tablespoons baking soda to 16 ounces warm water.
Window Cleaner
Add 1 teaspoon distilled white vinegar to 16 ounces warm water.
Disinfecting Cleaner
Add 10-20 drops of teatree oil to 16 ounces warm water.
Floor Cleaner
To 16 ounces of warm water add:
1/2 teaspoon liquid soap
1/2 teaspoon borax
Squeeze of lemon or splash of vinegar
Spray floor with solution and mop as usual.
Linen Spray
Add 5 drops of your favorite scented oil to 8 ounces of water. Use to freshen linens and curtains.
Mold and Mildew- If you are looking for something less toxic that bleach here are two greener suggestions:
1. Naturally Clean- has a mildew formula which works.
2, Something even simpler: spray area with white vinegar and then immediately afterwards spray the area withhydrogen peroxide. This works well on many different surfaces including tile, wood, and fabrics. (Test fabrics in inconspicuous area first).
